Congratulations to curator Anna Abaldo for putting together such a great show at the Farmland Trust Gallery. Critic Brita Konau reviews it here. Ms. Konau has a keen eye and I am gratified by her words. Of these miniature squares, she says, they “. . .work like abstract, multilayered paintings. .” Being considered a “fiber artist” carries with it the risk of a lack of grativas, I fear, and to have someone see the painterly quality of my chosen medium is gratifying. Why don’t I paint? I still hold to the perhaps romantic notion that one should be in love with one’s medium.
